Karla Hernández obtained her doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras campus. She did clinical practice at the University Center for Psychological Services and Studies (CUSEP) and at the Pediatric Hospital. She did her internship at the Center for Assistance to Victims of Violence (CAVV). She practices clinics with adults, children and adolescents who are victims of sexual assault and child abuse. She worked in the Department of the Family investigating and handling child abuse cases. Her doctoral thesis is on child abuse and trauma.
Since 2018, she has worked at Taller Salud in the Tu Paz Cuenta program providing psychosocial support to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking. She is currently the organizer and community outreach of said program with the purpose of educating on issues related to gender violence and providing support to leaders and their communities that seek the well-being of women and their children.
